Copthorne Hotel Effingham Gatwick - 克劳利

This was my 3rd visit to this hotel over the passed few years while on business. Very friendly and helpful staff and great breakfasts. Only flaws are room service menu is a bit limited, carpets looking tired in places and pool was out of order but otherwise a very nice hotel.

We only stayed 1 night but we thought the hotel v badly needed refurbishing. It was clean but shabby. Beds were comfortable

This is a hotel that is requiring a refurb as soon as possible. The room we had was extremely dated and the furniture I have seen better down the dump. Bed was ok. The wallpaper had bits missing and old splash marks up the wall. TV was so old, big old CRT with rubbish hotel TV and no freeview. Hotel looks great from the exterior and is grandiose. Reception, bar and dining facilities are fantastic. Rooms unfortunately, are tired and in desperate need of modernisation. Overall a good hotel nevertheless for discounted prices.

Location is great for Gatwick Airport, but no airport noise. Staff very helpful as usual. Hotel needs some TLC as it is old and tired. :-)

Hotel rooms feel a bit tired. However, staff and services are good. Unfortunately, pool was out of action. Good value for money based on rate paid.

I was disappointed when I arrived to find out the pool was closed when the only reason I chose the hotel was for a swim! Also be aware when you arrive they ask you to fill in the rewards application and try and make it seem like it’s part of the check in process. Also a pint of Guinness is £4.60 and not very good. Stayed here mid January and they still had xmas lights in the trees outside and playing the same xmas CD over and over again in the public areas ad nauseum! Asked reception why, and they said that they only had one CD and it was the xmas one. Just about says it all about this hotel

Excellent location close to Gatwick Airport but not noisy. Great English breakfast. Restaurants a bit pricey but good food. Staff polite and friendly. Tea and coffee making in room, room furniture a bit ''tired'' but overall room was comfortable.

Have stayed at this hotel a few times on business and have noticed a steady decline in standards. Restaurant and bar prices are more aligned to a 5* hotel which this is certainly not!

Filthy upholstery and really worn out furniture in public areas and restaurant makes for an unpleasant experience. Why do they insist on keeping the main front doors open allowing cold air into the restaurant?

Overall a pleasant stay at the hotel. The hotel could probably do with a facelift - looking tired in some areas. The staff were polite and pleasant. breakfast overpriced very little choice and bar prices are the most expensive i have ever found in a hotel

Lovely hotel nice friendly staff ,our room was very nice only fault it was very warm even with the window open. Breakfast was good & pleasent staff .

Stayed at he Copthorne Effingham and will not be returning in a hurry. The restaurant charges sky high prices for mediocre quality. During my stay the restaurant ran out of my first choice meal twice and the cooked breakfast was cold. Staff are pleasant enough but the hotel is in need of a facelift

I booked this hotel as an overnight stay after we flew in from Barcelona. It was meant to be final treat for my wife after a wonderful holiday. I could not have been more wrong. This hotel is in a very poor state. We arrived and were given a room on the second floor. There was no porter so I had to load our three cases onto a trolley and push them myself. […] We took the lift which had an old stained carpet and smelt awful. I am not exaggerating when I say it made us feel nauseous and we were glad to get out. The passageway to the room had an iron and ironing board laid against the wall the walls skirting and room doors were all brown and had several chips which made them look very tatty. The door to our room was also very knocked about. When we entered the room there was an awful smell as if someone had been smoking. The light fitting on the entrance wall was loose and just hanging on the wall. The wallpaper along the skirting was torn and hanging of the walls. I went into the bathroom and found the toilet seat was stained and looked very unsavory. The cabinets and table had been knocked and chipped in several places. We tried to settle in but the smell was awful I then went downstairs and complained stating that I was very unhappy about the state of the room and it smelled awful. The lady on the desk then gave me another room key and said quietly try this one. I did not hear the number and said pardon, She then said she was speaking quietly so the manager could not hear her. I transferred our baggage and we then settled in. This room did have some chipped and tired furniture but it was at least clean and smelt a lot better. The breakfast was very good and plentiful. This hotel needs a complete renovation. Beds are too hard and old. The carpets are from war time and so are most of the amenities. Bathrooms are probably the worse are of the hotel. Staffs are just normal; they are not happy or welcoming to the guests as they should be.

Check in was ok not that friendly, The gym was well furnished but the pool was small, if more than 6 people wanted to swim at the same time would be difficult. The restaurant was terrible, both my wife and I had to send our food back, my steak was all fat and gristle, wifes potatoes were not cooked in the middle so were hard and not nice. Restaurant […] staff too busy talking and had to get up to go to them instead of being waited on!! Room clean but broken tiles in bathroom and socket hanging off wall for trouser press. Bar area was not cleaned properly and although omly two others in bar the tables were not wiped down properly and beer puddles on them. Only one small area outside to sit in. Great location if your after a golfing hol but other than that the only other good feature was the conference centre which was idea for weddings. Overall very disapointed with the hotel and would not recommend it. Rooms are not climate controlled unless you consider a fan in the cupboard and opening your window to be such. cannot believe the AA have given this 4 stars ( needs to be changed to 3 in my opinion) as its very tired furnishing wise and needs updating, also staff need training in guest relations .... sorry copthorn but thats how it was 阅读更多信息

Hotel was OK for a 1 night stay. It is need of some care and attention but the room was clean and comfortable. Although the bus service to Gatwick is not run by the hotel it is considered part of the service by guests using the parking option whilst on holiday. The bus to Gatwick at 6.00 was fine. However on our return around 10.00 we waited for over […] an hour and no bus showed. In the end we shared a taxi with another frustrated couple. This is definately not what you want at the end of a lovely holiday, a 10 hour flight and with the prospect of a 3 hour drive home. The location of the restaurant is in the foyer with open plan so as you are eating those checking in/out are clearly visible. The restaurant is located immediately next to the main front door so expect to get a cold blast of air whilst eating when the front doors opens on a windy day and you are sitting nearby. Smoke from those smoking outside the front […] door / waiting for taxis also finds its way in - not pleasant. Furniture in restaurant is old and the chairs are particularly past their best with gruby cloth coverings and some physically broken. Food in restaurant is expensive for what is provided. The Copthorne Effington is located abut a 20min bus trip from Gatwick Airport. The hotel is in need of some TLC as it is showing its age. No airconditioning and the fridges have been removed from the rooms. Tea and coffee making in room. Restaurant serves good food and staff are friendly. Overall a good hotel needing an upgrade

unfortunately the place didnt live up to the brand. having stayed in Copthorne/Millenium before i didnt think i could go wrong . . . . Rooms are very tired - rather dirty (although bed was clean and comfy), bathroom smelly and midge-ridden. Rooms are showing signs of age and could do with updating. Old style box TV's with intermittent signal which regularly freezes the picture. Door closure catch not working properly.Furnishings are getting somewhat battered. Lots of noise during the night with people arriving and leaving at all hours, presumably for the airport. Bedroom had seen better days, old fashioned TV not flatscreen, carpets badly worn and generally in need of a facelift. Bed matress felt like it could have done with replacing. Plenty of very early morning noise from movement in corridor, probably from people going to catch Gatwick flights. Self service breakfast. Tea has to be made by using pre-boiled […] water using a jug located at a table near to eating area. Seating in eating area is showing signs of age with worn fabric and stains. Restaurant is immediately adjacent to reception foyer which doesn't lend itself to eating in a feeling of privacy. Nice location out in the countryside but conveniently close enough to Gatwick Airport. Unless prepared to walk some considerable distance there is little choice but to eat in the hotel. Very good value this time including full quality bfast buffet. Public areas good but will need updating soon. Room very comfortable. Would stay again at a bargain rate. About 15 min drive or bus from LGW

Hotel very convieniant for Gatwick Airport. Reception area good but room very dated and bathroom was like going back to the 1980`s. Had booked and pre paid for bed and breakfast but when we went down to breakfast they said we could not go in as we had not paid for breakfast. From the outside this hotel looks plush which is greatly assisted with the golf course which surrounds it. But you know what they say - looks can be deceiving... The hotel is old / tired and very grubby. The room we had was a double which had a very stale odour about it. It was dirty and the furniture and fitments were is a poor state of repair. We […] didnt eat in the hotel so cant comment on the food or drink however we were not impressed - we stayed at the sister hotel only a mile or so down the road and found it to be better (but still a bit tired) at least you got free internet access there. Hotel was nice on first appearance, only real complaint or observation was my room was getting very tired, the carpet was warn through and the bed was sagging where so many people had sat and watched TV! The bar is a "sports" bar so don't expect a quiet drink at the end of a long day. What you see is what you get with this hotel. It is run efficiently but is now very tired and is in sore need of refurbishment. It is, however, ideal for a one night stay before flying from Gatwick and the room rate includes leaving your car at the hotel. The reception staff was a star. Lady on the desk was very helpful. Rooms were nice and clean. Facalities like Gym were good. Over all good value of money.

On arrival had trouble parking car, carpark was another Park your car and fly off, leaving the car park full. inside was a nice reception staff nice, In the room the furniture was very tired for what is a 4* Not what i was expecting. and the ceiling had a bad repair which looked like water had come though at some point. Was very disappointed with this hotel, look lovely in the photos, but very old and shabby, glad it was just an overnight stay. prices were ridiculous £5.25 for a egg sandwich!!! A Baileys from the bar was not more than a thimble full, extremeley overpriced!!! would not book again or recommend!!!

Along with our friends we had 15 rooms booked. Sadly one couple had to leave because they found the room oppressive because of heat and others said that they would be unlikely to stay again because of the lack of air conditioning. Would have been flash 10 years ago, showing wear and tear, rooms clean but a little tatty. Rooms were big though. Good location for London and Brighton and Gatwick. Well worth the travelodge money I paid for it, would be gutted if I paid full rate.
